The New VFHvideo

Well, I was refraining from doing it, but I finally decided to upgrade our YouTube channel, VFHvideo, to YouTube's new profile layout. I was liking the current one, which I put a lot of time into getting just right, specifically the background; but I was reading on YouTube's Blog that on July 15th, all YouTube profiles will be changed over to the new layout, so I figured I might as well do it now.

I wasn't a fan at first, but I have to say the new profile designs are quite nice, but definetly need some getting used to. I definetly like the fact that the full HD video is available right on your channel, and that despite there being a featured video, you can now watch all of a user's upload right on their channel, and comment, without ever leaving.

Now if only something like that could convince me to switch over to MySpace's Profile 2.0....

VFH reaches 30,000+ Unique Readers

I won't site here and repeat my usual list of thank yous and more, you can see that from last time. None the less, I still would like to thank everyone, yes all 30,000 of you different readers for allowing us to reach such a goal in just over a year.

And, as customary at this point, let's take a look at our social stats since the last 10,000: 318 friends on MySpace, 657 combined friends and subscribers on YouTube, 376 followers on Twitter, and then there's the slump of just 9 people calling us a contact on Flickr, and 10 fans on Facebook; can't win them all right? None the less, everyone counts, and your readership is much appreciated!

To keep you reading, the staff has been discussing a bunch of new features to hold your attention for the summer, with some of the features available in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for that.

See you all at 40,000!

New Facebook page

Totally out of our control, but what can you you? Today Facebook decided that Pages will now look and act like User Profiles. I had to republish it, but I was having trouble looking at it when not loged into Facebook. So drop me a line if you're having issues. Otherwise, check it out:

View From Heaven at Facebook

What do you think? Did you like the old Page designs or do you prefer the new Profile-like designs? Personally, I liked the old way better because the URLs were right on the front page, and it stood out from regular profile ... oh well?

VFH, now on Twitter

I hinted at this in the recent poll results, so it was only a matter of time before it was official. And as if you didn't notice it in the menu on the right, View From Heaven is now on Twitter. So you can keep up with our babbling via text messages.

Twitter - View From Heaven

To be honest, I've yet to see the full purpose, but people seem to be using the site, so I figured I might as well. Also you may have noticed a fancy new background featuring Viewbear, this same background is also now on our MySpace page, and hopefully at VFHvideo soon (maintenance pending).

UPDATE: Twitter, MySpace, and VFHvideo now have the fancy Viewbear background!

2nd UPDATE: Twitter spot added under our Blog of the Day Award in the bottom right-side panel. It displays the most recent update.

Poll #9 Results

As December comes, another poll goes, here are the results for November's reader intrusive poll:

Where do you Social Network?

Facebook - 66%
MySpace - 55%
YouTube - 33%
deviantART - 33%
Flickr - 11%
I Don't - 11%
Other - 0%

So I guess reports are true, and Facebook has taken over MySpace's reign as most popular social networking site. However from my point of view, we have a much bigger audience on MySpace than we do on Facebook, so you be the judge. As for YouTube tieing with deviantART ... well I suppose not ever uses YouTube as a social network as much as they do just use it to watch random videos. And deviantART I put on the list for good measure, never thought it'd match YouTube though. Then there's poor Flickr, I never found it very socialable to begin with, but I know many folks use it. Let's not forgot those of you that don't social network, to each their own I guess. I was against the whole networking thing myself .. but now look at me (yikes!). And lastly, Other, I guess there is nothing? I've been thinking about getting a Twitter account for VFH, as it looks to be the next big thing, but I haven't the slughtest clue in how it works.

Next poll should be up!

LittleBigWorkshop

How fitting with our current poll, LittleBigPlanet is now taking on social networking, with LittleBigWorkshop. Here you can read up about the game, watch videos, get downloads, etc. But if you have a PSN account, you can sign in, set up a LBW account page, and begin to makes blueprints and designs that you can share with others.

It's also the new location of LittleBigPlanet News. PSN or not, if you have an interest in the game you should check out this site.

VFH, now on MySpace

We already have a Facebook account, so despite me really not wanting to do it, I had to go and make a MySpace account. And as you can probably see by the look of our MySpace account, I'm very new to it, and I already hate it. The MySpace set up and custumization tools are just as sloppy and unorganized as the pages people make on it. But you wanted it, so you got...

MySpace - View From Heaven

You're more than welcome to send friend requests and and comments or however it works ... As with our Facebook, Flickr, and YouTube accounts, you can find the link to our MySpace on the right where it says VFH on the Web.

VFH, now on Facebook

You heard it right, View From Heaven has gone social networking, and can now be found on Facebook!

There isn't much on there right now other than the usual mission statement, and links to the site, the blog, the Flickr account, and VFHvideo. But we'd really appreciate it if you readers out there with Facebook account would add yourself as Fans of the site.

Also with the launch of this, I have added a new section to the right side menu. This new section is titled VFH on the Web; so what you'll find there is VFHvideo, our Flickr and Facebook account, as well as any future internet endeavors!

P.S. Don't look for a VFH MySpace, it's not happening yet. Sorry MySpace fans!
