Team ICO comes to LittleBigPlanet

I may have just bought the two Metal Gear Solid packs (levels and costumes) for LittleBigPlanet, but it seems that I may have to buy yet another pack because Media Molecule just released this video:

This Shadow of the Colossus themed teaser comes shortly after a recent ICO teaser image from Media Molecule, so that's why I'm assuming it's content for both of Team ICO's already released games (with hopefully some Last Guardian stuff included as well). It's unknown at this time if this will just be stickers & costumes as most LBP add-ons are, or if it's going to include levels and new tools a la the MGS pack. We'll find out next week!

First Project Trico Footage

That right there, is the first footage of the game currently known as "Trico." Possibly my most anticipated game. This really just made my day.

Apparently the video is meant for internal viewing only, is over a year old, and was also not publicly released, but leaked. Regardless of all of that, it looks amazing. I love the style of the creature, I love the atmosphere, (which, oddly enough, reminded me of a Miyazaki film) I love the animation, and I'm excited as hell.

The boy's a little boring as far as a main character, but perhaps that's on purpose? Maybe this isn't the final version of the boy? Who knows...

At this point I'm thinking this will be a prequel to Shadow of the Colossus. Perhaps this bird-dog-creature is a precursor to the colossi? It's obvious that the thing's chained up at the beginning, so we know that there are people not too fond of this creature being free. That along with the arrows in the back of it lead me to believe that the boy is the only person on this monster's side. I think the horns on its head may have something to do with the hate for the thing. That along with the fact that its a goddamn giant bird/dog monster thing. Anything I say right now is just speculation anyways.

Hopefully more is revealed at E3. I'll keep an eye open, just for you. Well, and for me a little bit. Mostly you.

You, Go Buy ICO

So, I finished my play through of ICO the other day. This is now by far my favorite game. Everything about the game was amazing. The imagery astounded me for such a old game, and the art style will give the game a fighting chance in visuals for many years to come. The puzzles where clever. This was the first time ever in a game where all the puzzles truly seemed logical to me. You always had all the tools you needed to continue, you just need to figure out how and where to use them. Their was even a big emphasis on platforming that was integrated into the puzzles, which is very welcomed.

One comment I would like to put out there, ICO reminded me very much of a point and click adventure game. The focus on puzzles, the camera angles, the pacing while faster, still at times seemed to be reminiscent of P&C games of the past. It was all just very P&C reminiscent. I was never a fan of point and clicks, but the beauty of the game along with the deep story and emotional connection you form with the characters in the game really made it stand out.

I cannot recommend this game enough. Go to your local game store and buy it used, find it on ebay, amazon, whatever, its not expensive, I'm confident you could find it for under 20$. This is something you need to experience if you consider yourself a gamer. So do yourself a favor and go pick it up.

On a side note, since JDW has already reviewed this game I will not be posting a review, but he felt the same way about the game as I did, giving it a perfect 5/5. I agree with his review 100%. So go give it a look.

New Team ICO Game

The president of SCE is quoted from the recent Official Playstation Magazine saying;
"It took four years and the second game took four years too. So I started calling them the 'Olympic Team.' They haven't released a PS3 title yet - of course not - they'll take four years! But they have something really, really good on the way."

Shadow of the Colossus came out in 2005, which means it has been 3 years. Does this mean a possible announcement at TGS? I'll keep my eyes open and pass on to you any info I learn or even plausible rumors that I hear.

Also, I just got ICO, considering the age of the game I'm not sure if I'll be writing a review, but I will at least write impressions. The more I talk about it the more I realize that the game is seemingly unknown to the masses of people. That must be changed.
