Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen review

The sequel to Michael Bay's 2007 Transformers film, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has arrived! Aiming to be even better than the original, does this awaited sequel slaughter your childhood memories and throw them your face, or does it actually please the viewers? Read on to find out!

Revenge of the Fallen starts out with more of the crazy shenanigans of Sam Witwicky (Shia Labeouf) as he ships out to college; Sam and his girlfriend, Mikaela Banes (Megan Fox), are having problems with jealousy, and dealing with a long distance relationship. This is known as the funny part. The part before the two hour block of action that's full of immature jokes and awkward situations. Despite, or even partially because of, the aforementioned childish jokes I enjoyed the beginning; as it did provide some good laughs.

After all the character development is out of the way (Megan Fox is sassy and hot, Shia is funny and going to college), the action suddenly pops up. This is what you came to see anyways and it doesn't disappoint. The battles are fast and relentless and yet, the hectic pace of everything, and similar makeup of all the robots do tend to make the action lose some of its impact. Regardless, the choreography of the battles and sheer scale of things is impressive. A few portions specifically really shoot the “Hell yeah, that's freaking awesome!” meter off the charts. Yes, Michael Bay explosions are to be had, and there's plenty of them.

What holds all of these parts and explosions together? Why, a plot, that's what! The Allspark has been destroyed, but the Decepticons are still on earth and this causes the government to believe that the reason they're still attacking is due to the presence of the Autobots. From there things just go downhill in terms of plot, but the length of the film obviously makes it feel like it's dragging on even more. Now I don't want to spoil anything else for you, but lets just say the storyline gets shaken up quite a few times, but despite that it is still easy to follow, and most important of all, is enjoyable, albeit a little forgettable.

In closing, I'd say Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was a good movie. It didn't surpass the original film in my opinion, but it was still very enjoyable for what it's worth. My one problem is the length; I was about ready to fall asleep towards the end. And if not for the AWESOME ROBOT ON ROBOT ACTION, I probably would have. Megan Fox is still hot, Shai Labeouf is still witty, and robots tearing each other apart is still pretty cool. The plot is decent, the action is good, and the movie was enjoyable. What more do you want from a summer action flick?

See if: You want robot action, laughs, and more Megan Fox.

Don't see if: You want an involving, meaningful plot.

Eagle Eye review

It seems that every movie Shia Labeouf stars in turns out to be a success. Whether it be Disturbia, Transformers, Indiana Jones, or even back in his younger days with The Even Stevens Movie. Not that anything should be taken away from Michelle Monaghan, both her and Labeouf do an amazing job showing the personality and emotion of their characters in the film.

If there's one thing I can assure you, it's that Eagle Eye doesn't disappoint and will leave your heart beating for nearly two hours. The movie begins with a man named Jerry Shaw (Shia Labeouf), an average American just barely getting by. After the death of his brother, Jerry is framed as a terrorist and captured by the FBI. We then move to a woman named Rachel Hollaman (Michelle Monaghan), who is a divorced, single mother. After her son heads off to Washington DC, Rachel gets a call from an unknown woman. The woman tells her that if she doesn't do what is told of her, her son will die. In desperation for her sons life, Rachel listens to the woman's orders, and eventually meets up with Jerry, who escaped the FBI. Rachel and Jerry are sent all over the country by the mystery woman, who seems to be able to control everything that happens in their lives.

Eagle Eye is filled to the brim with both action and suspense. Whether that be as small as a chase on a conveyor belt, or as impossible as a plane being flown through a tunnel, Eagle Eye has it all, and won't disappoint. Not that the movie is perfect, far from it. During car chases, the camera seems to jump around a lot, and gets pretty hard to follow. Also, the entire idea of the movie is hard to believe, and seemingly impossible. All I can say is that if you want to watch a realistic film, go watch High School Musical 3 (P.S. that's sarcasm). But if you want to see an entertaining thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat, this is the movie for you.

Overall, Eagle Eye is an extremely entertaining movie that never misses a beat. The action scenes, although hard to follow at times, will keep your heart racing and begging for more. The entire plot of the movie, although somewhat far-fetched, is filled with plenty of plot twists, and will keep your attention for the entire length of the film. Both Monaghan and Labeouf do an amazing job acting as their characters, and it makes you wonder just how much longer until Labeouf chooses an unsuccessful movie to star in. All in all, Eagle Eye will keep the average American entertained and wanting to watch this thriller again and again...and maybe even again.

Eagle Eye Impressions

I just can't get over how much Shia Labeouf has changed since my childhood. I still can't help but think of him as the little curly haired kid from Disney's Even Stevens. Not that I'm complaining, both Labeouf and Michelle Monaghan do an amazing job in his new movie, Eagle Eye.

While the idea of the movie seems somewhat far fetched, and the camera's get somewhat jumpy at times (during the car chases, for instance), this movie is far from horrible. In fact, if not for The Dark Knight, I would even say that it's the best movie this year. As I stated earlier, Shia Labeouf does an amazing job acting out the emotion of his character, Jerry Shaw. After the death of his brother, Jerry gets stuck with a girl named Rachel Hollaman (Michelle Monaghan) and they are sent on a wild goose chase hosted by an unknown woman, who seems to be able to control everything happening in their lives.

All in all, Eagle Eye is an action-packed thriller for all ages, as long as that age is over 13.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull pseudo review

I won't give a full out review, and i'll try to keep this as spoiler free as i can.

So i just returned from the nearby AMC Theatre after seeing Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. A word of advice, do the same, if you're planning on going to your local dingy theater you are not going to get the full feel of the movie. Not to sound like a spokesman, but see it at AMC or an equivalent theater; the big screen and the awesome surround sound really bring this film to life.

Now for the movie itself, don't go into this expecting something way over the top that it no longer feels like Indiana Jones. Lucas and Spielberg did a great job staying to the roots and keeping the CGI to a minimum, for the most part. But just as Lucas said if go into this looking for something more you are going to be disappointed, but if you go expecting fun, adventure, and that Spielberg flare, then you got it.

Also, do not be turned off by Shia LeBoeuf's appearance in the movie, sure it may seem like he's in everything nowadays, but his character fit in very well. The other thing I really liked about it was the well balanced connections of the past as well as hints to the future, but never getting out of hand. If you liked the previous movies, it makes sure you're happy.

A final tip, please, just go into this movie with an open mind; if you go to see this expecting it to be something or you have a disagreement with casting, then you won't be happy. But if you stay open, you will be highly rewarded.

Not really a full review but, Overall score - 8.6/10
