This week continued the season 5 trend by switching between the island gang and Oceanic Six and their struggle to get back to the island. But are we still interested? Let's get to it!
Episode 5 : "This Place is Death"
Zach says: After a little traveling with Rouseau, Jin finds his way back to the rest of the group as they make their way to the Orchid. Charlotte isn't looking too good, while she remembers some of her past and reveals some secrets about her youth, as Locke makes it to the mystical wheel, which was apparently off its axis, creating the time issues.
On the mainland, Ben convinces Sun that Jin is still alive and she agrees to go back to the island, while Kate and Sayid run away. Ben and clan meet up with Desmond and go to meet Faraday's mother, as they plan to get back to the island.
The episode doesn't progress the plot that much, but you can feel that it is leading up to something big. Hopefully, we won't have to wait until the season finale for some real conclusions.
Zach's Score: 8/10
JDW says: Continuing right where last week left off, Sun has confronted Ben and the rest of the Oceanic 6, while a newly awakened Jin tries to figure out how and why he's in 1988 with Rousseau's group. However, after an encounter with ol' smokey, Jin soon finds out about skipping through time, and the effects it has. Soon after meeting up with the rest of the crew on the island, the time skips get closer together, and it's time to reach the Orchid.
First thing that came to mind when watching this was, "When on Earth did Jin learn all that English?". Last time we saw him he only knew a few words/phrases, then he gets blown up, and all the sudden he's near fluent. Other than that gripe, the episode is alright as a whole. Some people come, some go, but for the most party nothing really happens. For me it was just nice to see that Jin's back; but it doesn't seems like we're going get any major revelations until next week.
JDW's Score: 7.7/10
Overall Score: 7.9/10
