Cartoon Network: 1992 - 2009

I'm pretty sure that my stance on Cartoon Network airing live-action programming has been made clear here on numerous occasions. Animation blog Cartoon Brew shares a similar distaste for the network's current direction, and posted a video that really makes me lose all respect for my once favorite television channel.

Seriously, now they're just digging their own grave with this crap. Was it really necessary to produce a music video that basically say cartoons are garbage? And coming from CARTOON Network of all places this just makes me really upset. You're dead to me now Cartoon Network, thank goodness you haven't destroyed Boomerang yet, because it seems that's all I have left of the network I grew up with.

The Terrible Thing of Alpha-9!

The Terrible Thing of Alpha-9! is an animated short by Jake Armstrong, which served as his senior year thesis film at the School of Visual Arts this year. I previously got to see this film last month at SVA's Thesis Screening, and I personally felt that this short was the best in show, and easily surpassed most of the other students' work in terms of quality and design.

Now, thanks to Cartoon Brew and their Cartoon Brew TV program, you too can now watch Jake Armstrong's great film. Also be sure to check out CB's original post for Alpha-9, which includes some insight about the film from Jake himself; and also check out his blog at jakehatesyou.blogspot.com for some behinds the scenes work on Alpha-9 as well as other things he's worked on recently.
